ABOUT

Hi!

My name is Phuong Linh Nguyen. Friends call me by my first name “Phượng” or “Linh” since it’s much easier to pronounce than my first name, you can call me Blue as this show, I know I got lots of names so I don’t mind if you will give me the next good one.

I love listening to podcasts, talk shows. There was a time hosting events is my main work which gave me plenty of lessons and chance to grow up, however, moving abroad gave me a big break from that learning process. Later on, with my passion for podcasting and my recognition of a lack of podcast show in Vietnam, I decided to do this podcast. At first, I planned to do it only in Vietnamese, just in case the guest is not good in Vietnamese (some expats are more fluent in English than in Vietnamese), then my foreign friends supported me by listening to my podcast just to hear my voice without understanding what I am talking about (“Why Vietnamese?” they always said) and I found out there are more expats in Hanoi – my hometown than I ever imagined once I returned to Vietnam, thus, I’m excited to create a big main part in this podcast to share expats in Vietnam’s stories.

I try to make this podcast rather a community than a person, I don’t like to speak so personally or putting myself centered in any case but here are some facts about me in case you want to know more about me:

I was born on 6th January 1989, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I have lived in Vietnam, Italy, and Germany (time of living counted by year)

I am a partial minimalist (I prefer not to call myself a minimalist, for me minimalism is kind of a practice, like Buddhism and I like the process of learning and awakening)

I am an INTJ-A person according to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

I talk better in one-to-one conversation than in a group that’s why this podcast helps me to socialize and to talk with inspiring individuals.

Why I do podcast?

I love it! Easy! Furthermore, I wanted to do this podcast originally in Vietnamese with 2 main reasons. The first one is because not many Vietnamese people are aware of podcast industry. None of the friends surrounding me listening to podcast at the time I did it. Many friends still asked me what is podcast and why am I such a dreamer to do something that no-one knows. Second reason related to my expat life. I found out not many people staying back home know how is it by staying abroad for expats. They think life in Europe is close to heaven (?!), they consider all expats are rich. I also think there should be a channel to link and to be a companion with expats.

What will you find from this podcast?

Each month I try to release 4 contents: 2 interviews: one English, one Vietnamese; 1 blog post and 1 mini-episode.

Vietnamese episode: I interview a Vietnamese expat to talk about a topic in Vietnamese!

English episode: I interview an expat living in Vietnam to share their lives’ stories, experiences and views on a topic.

Blog post and minisodes: where you see my opinion, know my stories and get some tips from my experiences.

So nice of you to read until here 😀

I hope you will find this podcast as a friend and feel free to comment, share with me on social media like Facebook, Instagram. I am not a very socialized person but once seeing the one who shares same interest I will be very talkative.

Cheers.
